Mary Peters of Mountrath, Laois, entered M.M.M. on January 2nd 1941. After Novitiate Formation, she did her general nurse training in St. Vincent's Hospital in Dublin and Part 1 of her midwifery training in Drogheda.

In 1947 she was assigned to Nigeria - Ogoja Province - making her Final Profession in Anua in 1949. Over the years, she worked in Obudu, Afikpo, Nkalagu, Ndubia and finally in Ikom, but between times had periods in Drogheda, 1959 - 60 when she completed her midwifery training, and again from 1965 - 1966 when she was very ill.

She is remembered as being a very dedicated nurse with a great team spirit.

She died at St. Luke's Hospital, Anua, but was interred at Afikpo.
