All our work in healthcare is closely linked to the efforts of local communities to improve the status of women. That gets us involved in the issues of income generation.

Sometimes, our work involves us with communities as they struggle to recover from some disaster or from years of war. One example is our work among the people of Honduras following Hurricane Mitch and subsequent disasters.

The Medical Missionaries of Mary went to Rwanda following the genocide of 1994, and have remained since then developing health and nutrition services as well as trauma counselling. In Angola, MMM Sisters have been with the people all through their years of war, and are now involved as the country hopes for a better future in peacetime.
